Međugorje

Saint James Church
Međugorje is a town located in the Herzegovina region of western Bosnia and Herzegovina close to the border of Croatia. Since 1981. it has become a popular site of religious pilgrimage due to reports of apparitions of the Virgin Mary to local Catholic children. The name Međugorje literally means "between mountains". The town consists of an ethnically homogeneous Croat population of over 4000. The Roman Catholic parish consists of five neighboring villages: Međugorje, Bijakovići, Vionica, Miletina and Šurmanci.

On June 24th 1981. two young girls reported seeing an apparition of the Virgin Mary in a village.
The following day another vision was reported, this time also by four other children. The children claim that they saw an apparition on the hill Crnica and that the alleged apparition was a white form with a child in her arms. Surprised and scared, they did not approach. The next day at the same time four of the youths returned and joined by the other two. For several years the six visionaries reported seeing daily apparitions from the Virgin Mary and Međugorje became crowded with pilgrims although Vatican hasn't recognized apparition of Our Lady in Međugorje yet. For those who require a miracle they might find it there, while for ordinary people like me, peace is guaranteed. Come, see and experience, I recommend!
