A pleasant home atmosphere characterized this private hotel. Very good accommodation, clean rooms, excellent prepared food, polite and always in good mood waiters as the entire stuff, in the center of Kranjska Gora, near the ski slopes, shops ..... All this is good reason to prepare to come back next year. Parking space. Highly recommend!

I can say that I was lucky to visit Bled four times.It was fall during my first three visits and this year I finally saw it covered with snow. It was equally beautiful in "black and white" technique like when it was all "dressed up" in autumn colors. This place calms me and fills me with positive energy. Here my fatigue and bad mood are disappearing and I simply have a need to come here and recharge my batteries.

Bled is encircled by the Julian Alps and natural forests. There is a medieval castle over 1000 years old which stands above the lake. In the center of the lake is Bled Island, a natural island right in the heart of the lake, where stands the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary built in the 15th century. There is a stairway from the base of the lake with 99 steps leading up to the church which is adorned with a 52-meter tower. You can ring the bell in the center of the church. The bell doesn’t ring for everyone; legend has it that, that if it rings for you, while making a wish, it will be granted.

I went to this small island to see the castle during my first three visits. This time, since it was very cold, we didn't dare to go across the lake by boat, although the lake wasn't frozen, or climb to the castle.

I'd recommend anyone to come, at least one time, to Bled, make a complete circle of cca 5 kilometers round the lake, and then, of course, to visit the island and the castle..

The castle terrace offers a breathtaking view of the whole town, lake and island. There is a restaurant inside where you can have a nice romantic candlelight dinner.

And finally go grab a bite of Bled's Rezine (cake )!!!!!

Planica

Planica is world known ski jump on which every year ski flying competition is held. According to information I found Planica is the largest in the world.
I do not know the dimensions and I couldn't find it anywhere, but to me it looks huge.We came at a time of preparations for the upcoming competition in March. Looking at it from the frog's perspective I must admit that I was impressed by its size, it's like a giant.I like to watch the jumps on the television and I follow them almost every year, although I'm always afraid of possible falls, fractures and, God forbid death. Of course on television it all seems easier, but faced in live with this giant ..... you know what?  What is a championship, competition,  first, second, third place......they are all champions if we respect the fact that they dared to climb and jump.
I must admit that I wouldn't even walk up and not jump ........uh!!!

Mojstrana

Welcome to the Kingdom of the Snow Queen

Mojstrana is a thousand year old village, a village with many typical features of alpine architecture preserved. It is a village in the municipality of Kranjska Gora.
When we arrived to Kranjska Gora, we were told that in  Mojstrana we could see a live Bethlehem Scene. Christmas story, no matter how many times has been told and  all the ways we have experienced it, always awakens attention. And so we went a few kilometers back by car and we didn't regret it.  Everything was covered in snow. We reached the location where the performance took place by taking the snowy path that was arranged to create the impression of a fairy tale. With the first steps we've entered into a fairy tale, and even long after the show I felt somehow sublime. Everything was known, still each time I live through that story a long lasting impression stays. Those are the moments of a life time, moments to live for. 
These pictures won't transfer the right impression of that magic evening but it is better to experience this wonderful event this way than not at all.

Kranjska Gora 2

Kranjska Gora  is a town and a municipality on the Sava Dolinka river in the Upper Carniola region of northwest Slovenia, close to the Austrian and Italian borders.
Kranjska Gora is best known as a winter sports town, being situated in the Julian Alps.
The municipality of Kranjska Gora is situated in the Upper Sava Valley, a typical Alpine valley.

Located at the far north west of Slovenia where the borders of Slovenia, Austria, and Italy meet, the valley is embraced on the north and south by the towering peaks of the Karavanke Mountains and the Julian Alps. In the east its border runs just below the town  Jesenice, where the valley opens up towards the Radovljica Valley, extending in the west along the water-shed between the Sava and Slizza rivers, just west of Rateče. In the north the Wurzenpass at Podkoren leads to Arnoldstein in Carinthia, in the south the Vršič Pass connects it with Trenta in the Slovenian Littoral region.

The Upper Sava Valley has an Alpine climate with its long, snow-abundant winters and shorter summers with moderate temperatures, easterly winds and sufficient rain to maintain the valley's greenery. The winter usually stays in the valley for between four and five months, and a blanket of snow usually covers the valley for just around four months.  In winter, there are large differences between the sunny and shady slopes embracing the valley. The sunny slopes are accommodating to hikes and strolls, while the shady slopes retain a snow blanket.

I was very lucky to welcome New Year in this beautiful place that I called the little gem of Slovenia. Although I'm not a skier and have no intention in my age to learn to ski for the simple reason the fear of breaking my bones, I love snow and all those nice things it brings. We were located in the very center of Kranjska Gora. Small private house in which they all tried to make us feel like at home. They succeeded!
We spent a wonderful time in the company of dear people and friends. Every day we went for long walks, excursions to nearby places, we spent time in conversations, games... time flew in a blink. Beautiful memories remained.

Kranjska Gora 1

I don't have very often the opportunity to welcome New Year on the snow. This year we decided to go to Kranjska Gora and experience the real New Year's atmosphere because, to be honest, the white days and nights are the white days and nights. What is the New Year without snow? What is the Christmas and New Year fairy tale without snow?
SNOW! At the thought of snow a child wakes up in me. And then I'm really excited because I know that this child will bring me nothing but happiness. And what more do I need in my life?
Since I will not be at home next fifteen day I just want to announce that I will share my memories with you as soon as I get back.
